Administrative History

In 1905 Mrs. Minna Reese Adamson, wife of Carrollton lawyer and U.S. Congressman W.C. Adamson, for whom Adamson Square is named, created the Lit-Mu Club from her home in Carrollton, Georgia. The purpose of the club was to study literature and music and to support the public library. In the years since its formation, the club has donated numerous books to the library, presented scholarships, and given dramatic readings at local schools. The club is said to be the Georgia state’s oldest women’s club.
