The Parent Teacher Association at the Maple Street School in Carrollton, Georgia, was organized in the fall of 1923. The organization raised funds and pursued initiatives to enhance the facility and its operations and improve the lives of the students. Projects undertaken through 1955 included dental and immunization programs; beautification of the grounds; purchasing equipment and supplies for the school; creating, equipping, and staffing a school lunch room; providing shoes and clothing to students in need, and helping the school rebound when the main structure was destroyed by fire in 1947. During World War II, the Maple Street School P.T.A. supported the war effort in Carroll County. Members were also active on the larger organizational level of the P.T.A. attending meetings of the Eighth District Division of the Georgia Congress of Parents and Teachers.
