Scope and Contents note

The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton was organized on October 23, 1947, as a service organization by local Carrollton businessman. The collection contains various Kiwanis publications, charitable material, and photographs related to the Kiwanis Club of Carrollton. One of the publications, the Kiwanis Kronicle, a spiral-bound publication that 8.5"x14" in size, is a chroncle of club announcements and news.

Biographical/Historical note

The Kiwanis Club was founded in 1915 as an organization of businessmen who wanted to work in and serve their communities. The local chapter of the Kiwanis Club, the Kiwanis Club of Carrollton, was organized on October 23, 1947 by the Newnan Kiwanis Club and was also founded as a service organization by local Carrollton businessmen. The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton is currently a part of Kiwanis International, Georgia District, Division 20.

Materials have been donated in batches over the years including 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2021 by Kiwanis Club of Carrollton presidents and historians. The original donation date is unknown. Scrapbooks #10, #11, #12 were donated on December 5, 2019; Scrapbooks #13 and #14 were donated on December 2, 2019, by club member Neil Weathington; Scrapbooks #6 and #13 were donated on August 9, 2021, by Neil Weathington; and three Kiwanis Kronicles (October 2, 1998; July 8, 2005; and August 25, 2006) were donated on August 20, 2021, by Neil Weathington.
