This collection contains genealogical information gathered by Ruby Middlebrooks. She researched the Hill and Hendon families of Carroll County, Georgia in particular. Along with sheets of paper listing family tree information, there are original and copied photographs, original and photocopied original records, and photocopies made from family history books.

Biographical/Historical note
Ruby (Wester) Tidwell King Middlebrooks was born February 26, 1905 in Carrollton, Georgia, the daughter of George Madison Wester and Pearl Chance Wester. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1922 and then from a business college in Atlanta. She worked for the Army Air Force and Exchange Service in Atlanta until her return to Carrollton in 1949. In the early 1950s, she joined the staff of West Georgia College as secretary to the Dean of the College. She moved up to the position of secretary to the President and remained in this position until she retired in June 1972. She researched her own family's history, as well as local history. In 1963, she published her History of West Georgia College, 1908-1933 as Ruby King Middlebrooks. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton. She had three husbands: E. T. Tidwell, L. M. King, and Grady Middlebrooks, and all three preceded her in death. She died on September 17, 2000 and is buried at Asbury Cemetery in Carroll County.

Overview
This collection contains the genealogical research about the Hendon and Hill families of Carroll County, Georgia that was compiled by Ruby Middlebrooks, a staff member of West Georgia College for twenty years. She also wrote an eight-page history of the school after President Ingram’s retirement.
