The University of West Georgia (UWG) Mars Expo first took place on November 21, 2025 at the UWG Newnan campus in Newnan, Georgia. The Mars Expo is the result of students working to answer the question of how to achieve sustainable human life on Mars. With the support of faculty members, sponsors, mentors, and project managers, students answered the question through the creation of Mars colonies. The 2025 Mars Expo program describes the event as follows:

“The Mars Expo is an interdisciplinary, experiential learning initiative from University College and the Department of General Education that connects over 120 students from six disciplines in a collaborative challenge to design hypothetical Mars colonies. The role-playing project promotes complex problem solving while helping students develop key career competencies.”
