Biographical / Historical
Ridge Valley Iron Company in Floyd County, Georgia, was built in 1874. During its existence, it produced pig iron and bauxite. Pig iron was used to make pure steel and bauxite was used to make aluminum foil. Ridge Valley Iron Company also operated a company store and a farm and owned Hermitage Mills and the Republic Mining and Manufacturing Company.
