This collection contains clippings, photographs, and other materials pertaining to the history and development of Tallapoosa, the Royal Gold Mine, and other historic landmarks. Also contained in this collection is an obituary for Charlene Smith, the wife of Don Smith.

Biographical/Historical note
Don Smith graduated from Tallapoosa High School in 1950. Smith married Charlene Cason in 1953 and had three sons.
Throughout his career, Smith owned the Smith Auto and Muffler Shop in Tallapoosa, and later worked as a real estate agent starting around 1986. Mr. Smith was a founding member of the Tallapoosa Improvement Corporation in the early 1970s which fronted funds for structural repairs and restoration of buildings in downtown Tallapoosa. He is also an artist who primarily works with wood.
