The Committee on Appeal for Human Rights and The Student-Adult Liaison Committee handbill
Scope and Contents
Handbill distributed by The Committee on Appeal for Human Rights and The Student-Adult Liaison Committee to promote 1961 civil rights boycotts in downtown Atlanta. The handbill is titled "We are climbing freedom's ladder to dignity and brotherhood in '61." It would have been distributed within the African American community, calling for residents to boycott businesses in the downtown area. After listing some data regarding the boycott, the organizers conclude with two bullet-points under "This You Should Do: continue to refuse to pay to be segregated, and call 10 of your friends every day and impress upon them the importance of our sacrifice for success in '61."
