Biographical/Historical note
The Eclectic is the current University of West Georgia annual creative works journal, accepting literary pieces and artwork from student submissions. Each work is reviewed by student-led editorial staff and all decisions are finalized by a faculty adviser. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. It began in 1962 and it is still publishing today with its most recent edition published in 2019. Volume One was created by Judith Carol Hines in an effort to promote literary understanding and interest. Former college president Dr. James E. Boyd assisted the publication in receiving recognition.
