West Georgia College Advisory Council records
Scope and Contents note
This collection contains meeting agenda, memoranda, minutes, newspaper clippings, proposals, reports, and recommendations. The main function of the Advisory Council was to be an advisory body to the President on all administrative policies of the College, and a means of communication with faculty and student representatives. Topics discussed at length, among others, included: the development of a form of faculty governance, which, once enacted, led to the dissolution of the Advisory Council; approval of new academic degree programs; compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; and the beginning of social clubs (fraternities and sororities) on campus.
