Biographical/Historical note

Tracy P. Stallings (1933-2008), born in Carroll County, served on the Carrollton Board of Education, as Mayor of Carrollton from 1979 to April 1993, and as member of the Georgia State House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. He was also a longtime administrator at West Georgia College, serving in roles as Director of College Relations, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of Continuing Education.

Overview

Papers of Tracy P. Stallings, past Mayor of Carrollton, Georgia State Legislator, and longtime West Georgia College administrator.

Immediate Source of Acquisition note

Tracy Stallings began donating materials in January 1997. The final accesssion came from his estate in February 2014.

Processing Information

In 2023, the Tracy Stallings papers were weeded to discard materials that did not warrant retention. In POL-0019, 1.68 linear feet of materials were discarded. (The previous linear footage was 56.99.) This collection now consists of 127 boxes, 2 OV items, and 1 OV folder. The boxes were numbered 1-131, but now are 1-127. Materials discarded included weekly appointment books, newspaper clippings, and invitations and thank you letters.

The Stallings papers are being reprocessed to remove duplicates and routine correspondence. This project began in Fall semester 2023 by Jason Gaddy. 0.084 linear feet was removed as of Nov 30, 2023.
