Biographical/Historical note
James Thomasson (1800-1859) was born in York, South Carolina and moved to Heard County, Georgia after the death of his first wife, Jane Barron (married 1823; died July 16, 1827). Thomasson and his first wife had two sons: William Barron Thomasson (born November 23, 1823) and Thomas Jefferson Thomasson (born September 5, 1825).
The will, dating from 1832-1833, indicates that he might have remarried as he bequeaths property to his wife.
