This collection contains materials of the Second World War including a war ration book, OPA red points, the first stamp of liberated France, and a magazine known as the Signal.
These four items were collected by a Mr. Howard Lee, a local Carroll County resident.

Biographical/Historical note
The likely collector of these World War II materials was a local Carroll County resident, Melvin Howard Lee (1919-2011).
Howard Lee was born November 10, 1919 in Carrollton, Georgia to Mr. William Howard Lee and his wife Lena Harden Lee. Lee served in the United States Army in WWII in the European theater where he participated in the Normandy Invasion, landing on Utah Beach, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Rhineland Battle. During his time in the army, Lee received the Good Conduct Medal. Howard Lee also worked for the State University of West Georgia and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and a member of Tyus Masonic Lodge #671 F&AM. Lee died March 1, 2011.
Howard Lee was married to Nell Powers Lee (1930-2013), also a Carroll County resident, and they had one son Robert Lee.
