Biographical/Historical note
Central High School (Carrollton, Georgia) was founded in 1959 and at that time was the largest school in Carroll County. By 1970, the school had begun publication of a newsletter entitled The Lion’s Tale named for the school’s mascot. In November 1971, the newsletter evolved into a newspaper of the same title with publication continuing through at least March 1983.

Immediate Source of Acquisition note
This collection was transferred from the Neva Lomason Memorial Library on December 18, 2017. These materials were previously held in Neva Lomason’s Special Collections Room. The University of West Georgia Special Collections undertook a project to assist the public library in relocating materials in anticipation of their renovation and redirection of their collection focus. Records of organizations that are no longer in existence were transferred to UWG Special Collections and records of current organizations were returned to their rightful owners.
