This portion of Bob Barr papers contains files pertaining to bills sponsored and co-sponsored by Bob Barr. Some major issues that the 106th Congress dealt with included the fallout from the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, the threatened Y2K Computer Bug, and the Columbine School shooting. Bills of note in this portion of the collection are the American Inventors Protection Act, the Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, and the Water Resources Development Act. This portion also includes correspondence, both personal and official. Some of the correspondence is handwritten and includes letters from Barr’s constituents. Contained in this section are also files pertaining to gun control and the fight against the NRA against stricter gun control in order to protect the 2nd Amendment, as well as files pertaining to H. R. 1501, the Violent and Repeat Juvenile Offender Accountability and Rehabilitation Act of 1999.
