Scope and Contents note
This series contains the annual convention minutes of the national division of the U.D.C, ranging from 1912 to 1969. It also includes applications for the Southern Cross of Honor of multiple veterans from the United Confederate Veterans, Camp 487 located within Carrollton, Georgia. The Southern Cross of Honor is a military decoration given to Confederate soldiers and officers to commemorate the valor they showed fighting in the Civil War. The idea of bestowing medals to these soldiers after the war came from Mrs. Alexander S. Erwin and began in Atlanta, Georgia under the leadership of the U.D.C. in 1898. Additionally, this series also consists of articles of Incorporation, bulletins, by-laws, guidelines, rules, a newsletter, and other materials.
