The collection is primarily composed of photographic negatives and photographic prints taken by University Communications and Marketing (UCM) between 1953 and 2003. The collection also includes inventories of the negatives. One of the inventories is by subject. Other inventories are arranged by negative number, including a historic list on paper and a list of negatives that was exported from a database and provided as a pdf. These negatives depict campus life, special events, people, buildings, and other activities through the years.

The negatives and photographs are not attributed to a particular UCM photographer, but it is likely that some of these photographs were taken by Steven Broome, who joined UCM -- then called College Relations -- in 1989.
